Likewise, it is good for domestic settings every 10 years to determine the condition of an appliance or installation.
Electrical appliances need to be inspected and tested for safety because they deteriorate over time. The frequency of tests will depend on factors like age, the type of property where the installations are, and the change in the use of the property. The older an appliance or installation, the more an EICR will be needed every five to three to five years. If there is a pool in the property, the EICR is required once a year. If a rental property would be sold, testing and certification will be necessary to prove that it is safe.
There may be no legal requirements in conducting electrical installation condition reports, but for the sake of safety and security, consider them every few years. Only a certified Part P registered electrician who is experienced, knowledgeable, and proven trustworthy is qualified to conduct the electrical safety inspection and testing and can provide the electrical installation condition report. During the process, electricians will have to disconnect power from the main electrical power supply, so be sure to let your tenants know about the testing, as it can take about an hour to an entire day, depending on the size of your property. Electricians need to do that for safety reasons, and it lets them test an electrical circuit safely, too.
